First Widely Available Re-Release Since the Mid-60s!
The Zombies - featuring superb lead singer Colin Blunstone and fine young keyboard player Rod Argent - were the second UK group following the Beatles to score a No. 1 hit in America. With gorgeous melodies, breathy vocals, choral back-up harmonies and a jazzy influence, The Zombies ruled the 1960's with hit singles like "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No." Delivering some of the best produced and distinctive records in all of pop music, The Zombies' canon belongs on the same shelf as the other major players of the mid-60s such as the Kinks, Yardbirds and Animals; from their debut onwards, there was never at any point a drop in quality.
The classic 1965 U.S. debut from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees famously includes the two aforementioned Top 10 smashes "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No." Most of the contents from the record came from the previously released U.K. album, Begin Here. The Zombies offered up a fresh mix of pop, rock and R&B here blended with blues and jazz elements. Keyboardist, Rod Argent, would be the primary writer of the material, with Smokey Robinson, Sam Cooke and a George and Ira Gershwin tracks added in for good measure.
While this LP has appeared in a box set and as a special edition in recent years, this constitutes the first widely available re-release since the mid-1960's.
